Pool Water Levels Are Important to Maintain the Longevity of Your Pool.
A pools water level is constantly changing and it's crucial to keep it at the right level because problems may arise if it gets too low or too high. Pools naturally lose small amounts of water each day because of evaporation, splashing and swimmers getting out of the pool. If it rains for an extended period of time, water levels may rise too high.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO MONITOR A POOLS WATER LEVEL?
Because skimmers stop working if the water level isn't just right. Maintaining a pools water level is a daily task that can't be overlooked. Ideally, you want to always keep your pool water levels just shy of the middle of your pool’s skimmer. This keeps everything in your pool working the way it is supposed to.
If the water level is too high the debris floating next to the opening may pass by without being pulled into the skimmer. However, if the water level is too low it may cause the skimmer to suck air into the system.
CAN THIS DAMAGE MY POOL EQUIPMENT?
Yes. If this happens you may run the risk of burning up your pool pumps motor. A pool vacuum is used to clean the floors of a swimming pool. Although some pools have a specific vacuum line, most pools on island are vacuumed via the skimmer. If your water level is too low, this impedes on our service tech being able to properly service your pool. Keeping an eye on the water level daily is the only way to avoid improper water amounts. Your pool tiles can also dry out, which means they will become more brittle with time. This comes from being exposed to the effects of the sun without the protection of the water over the tiles. Your pool’s plaster will also become more brittle if you do not keep your pool water levels at the right height. The plaster surrounding your pool needs to be kept moist. When the plaster dries out, it becomes brittle, plus it begins to erode when the water hits it. This can cause your pool to look dirty, as well as throw off the chemical levels of the water. On top of ruining how your pool looks and functions, it can also cause your pool to leak.
